Postpartum Doula Services

This is a general overview of what you can expect from me as a postpartum doula.

Postpartum can look a little bit different for everyone, and even for every baby you have, so services are tailored to meet your specific needs. Typically we would meet at your earliest opportunity, whether you're still pregnant and planning ahead or baby is already born and you need immediate assistance. At our first meeting we'll discuss all of your needs and your expectations and coordinate together to make a plan that ensures you feel that you have the kind of support you're looking for. After signing the Postpartum Doula Support Contract, we'll schedule follow up appointments which will always follow your lead and comfort level.

Postpartum Services Can Include Any of the Following

• Emotional support and maternal recovery, rest, self care assistance

• Newborn care such as bathing, swaddling, safe sleep, diapering

• Newborn feeding support (breast, bottle or both)

• Sibling and family care or support with sibling adjustment

• Accompanying mother and baby to appointments

• Completion of errands as needed

• Light meal preparations

• Light household duties such as sweeping, laundry, tidying the bathroom (which can be very difficult after a cesarean section)

• Phone/email/text support as needed

Day Time

Overnight

• Doula stays overnight to assist in sleep optimization and newborn care

• Newborn care such as swaddling, safe sleep, diapering, feeding

• Newborn feeding support (breast, bottle or both)

• Night latching/breastfeeding positioning with doula assistance

• Establishing a pumping schedule for breast milk if necessary

• Record of wet/dirty diapers if necessary

• Soothing or settling baby back to sleep after feeding

• Support in developing healthy sleep patterns with safe sleep guidelines
